Council’s Customer Service Centres – Apollo Bay and Colac

Colac

The Customer Service Centre will close at 3pm on Thursday 24 December 2020 and re-open on Monday 4 January 2021.

Colac Visitor Information Centre will close on Monday 21 December at 4pm and re-open on Saturday 26 December 2020. The Centre will then open every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10am to 4pm.

For any urgent or animal related matters during the office closure, please call 5232 9400 and you will be directed to the after-hours service. For non-urgent matters during the office closure, please email inq@colacotway.vic.gov.au or submit a request through the website.

Apollo Bay

The Customer Service Centre and GORVIC will be closed Christmas Day, open all other days through December and January.

Bluewater

From Thursday 24 December 2020 until Sunday 3 January 2021 (inclusive), Bluewater will operate on modified hours, please visit www.bluewater.org.au for further details.

Bluewater will be closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day (patrons who have 24/7 gym access on their membership will be able to access the gym during all closures).

Instructor Group Fitness Classes

Group Fitness classes will conclude for the year on Thursday 24 December 2020; a reduced timetable will recommence in the New Year on Monday 4 January 2021.

Swim School

Swim School classes concluded for the year on Tuesday 15 December 2020 and will recommence in the New Year on Monday 1 February 2021. An intensive swim program will take place from Monday 11 January 2021 until Friday 15 January 2021. 

Childcare

Childcare concluded for the year on Thursday 17 December 2020 and will recommence in the New Year on Monday 11 January 2021.

Older Persons and Ability Support Service

The Older Persons and Ability Support Service will close at 3pm Thursday 24 December 2020 and reopen at 8.30am Monday 4 January 2020.

Home care – The last day for general home care will be Monday 23 December 2020, home care will recommence on Monday 4 January 2021.

Personal care – Will continue as normal, however a change in time may occur due to reduced staffing during this period.

Respite care – Will be considered upon request. Please contact Council on 5232 9420.

Meals on wheels – Please contact Council on 5232 9420 for delivery days during this period.

Case management – Limited services over this period.

HACC assessments – There will be no assessments during the Christmas/New Year period.

Community transport – The last day for transport will be Wednesday 23 December 2020, recommencing on the Tuesday 5 January 2021.

Property maintenance – Will not be available during the Christmas/New Year period. To contact our support service while the office is closed, please call 5232 9420.

Maternal and Child Health Services

Colac

Maternal and Child Health Services (MACH) close at 12pm on Thursday 24 December and will re-open on Monday 4 January 2021.

Apollo Bay

The last MACH session was on Monday 21 December. The centre will re-open on Monday 4 January

2021.

If you need to speak to a Maternal and Child Health Nurse during the Christmas period, we encourage you to ring the 24-hour Maternal and Child Health Line on 13 22 29. If your baby is unwell please contact your closest medical service.

Kerbside Waste Collections

Friday 25 December 2020 collections will be done on Saturday 26 December 2020.

Friday 1 January 2021 collections will be done on Saturday 2 January 2021.

Please place bins out the night before collection and bring in the day following to reduce risk of bins being blown over and spreading rubbish. If you’re not at your property over bin collection day, please check in with a neighbour to ask if they might be able to assist.

Additional Recycling Collections

Weekly kerbside recycling collections start Monday 21 December 2020 (for week 2 collection calendars) and Monday 28 December 2020 (for week 1 collection) calendars. Additional recycling collections will continue through to the end of January 2021 - when your green bin goes out put your yellow bin out too. Visit Council’s website www.colacotway.vic.gov.au for waste calendars and collection information.

Transfer stations

All transfer stations closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Apollo Bay Transfer Station

Open 7 days a week from 10am to 2pm from Saturday 26 December until the 7 February 2021.

Alvie Transfer Stations

Open Sunday 27 December, Tuesday 29 December, Wednesday 30 December and Thursday 31 December.

Birrregurra Transfer Station

Open Sunday 27 December 2020 and Sunday 3 January 2021.

Drop Off Facilities

Colac Regional Saleyards

The last sale of the year was held on Thursday 17 December 2020. Sales will resume at the Colac Regional Saleyards as follows: Weaner sale 10am Thursday 7 January 2021; Heifer sale 10am Monday 11 January 2021 and Normal (fat) sale resumes Thursday 14 January 2021.

Monthly Immunisation Sessions in 2021

Immunisation sessions are held on the first Thursday and the third Monday in the month.   Sessions are held in the COPACC meeting room (entry via the main entrance).

Colac Community Library & Learning Centre

The library will be open up to 3pm Christmas eve (Thursday 24 December 2020) and closed for the Christmas / New Year period, re-opening at 9.30am Monday 4 January 2021. The library will resume with the following hours of operation:

9.30am - 5.30pm each weekday (and open to 7pm Fridays).

10am - 12pm Saturdays
