Tree trimming in Birregurra
Colac Otway Shire Council has responded to community concerns by engaging a contractor to re-shape trees which were recently trimmed in Birregurra by another agency.
The contractor will re-trim selected trees in Strachan Street, Main Street and Beal Street.
General Manager of Infrastructure and Leisure Services Tony McGann said the township of Birregurra was proud of its streetscapes and Council recognised the need to ensure the community was happy with work completed.
“Council acknowledges the tree trimming work conducted by Powercor was necessary, and we are also mindful of community concerns regarding the streetscape,” Mr McGann said.
“Council is happy to ensure the trees are re-trimmed to a standard the community is happy with.
“The people of Birregurra are very proud of their streetscape, with the town enjoyed by locals, the Colac Otway community and visitors to the region.
“It’s sensible to ensure the trees, as one of the town’s best assets, are presented in the best possible way. Council is happy to assist with that.”
Any Birregurra residents who would prefer a tree on their nature strip was not re-shaped or who would like more information about Council’s plans to re-trim trees, can contact Council’s Customer Service Centre on 5232 9400.
