Kennett River Holiday Park Update
Kennett River Holiday Park will be back to normal this week after receiving the all-clear from health authorities.
The Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed that an outbreak of gastrointestinal illness at Kennett River earlier this month was caused by a virus and not linked to water supplies.
Colac Otway Shire Council Chief Executive Officer said the Kennett River Holiday Park management had taken precautionary action by trucking in water while water testing and other investigations were carried out, following multiple reports of people with gastro symptoms.
Mr Brown said the park’s management team’s proactive decision to bring potable water into the park had allowed the park to minimise any risk to visitors and the community.
“A Health Department investigation indicates the source of the gastro was viral and not caused by bacteria, but it was important that water and any other potential source of illness were ruled out to protect the public,” he said.
“Temporary toilets will be removed and visitors will be able to use the park’s facilities again now they have the all-clear.
“Kennett River Holiday Park is a fantastic tourism asset and Council is looking forward to continuing to support the park and community, particularly with the weather warming up in the lead-up to another busy season on our coast.”
