Colac Otway Visitor Information Service Review
Published on 26 October 2023
Council is seeking feedback from local business operators and the broader community about visitor servicing in Colac Otway.
Mayor Chris Potter said Council is interested in hearing from the Colac Otway community on how to deliver a service that best caters to visitor needs.
“We want to attract more people to experience our wonderful region, to share the many great experiences and sights we have to offer and also encourage people to stay longer and increase visitor spend in the shire,” Cr Potter said.
“In order to provide the best service we can, we’re asking for feedback from our community and specifically local commercial operators to understand the importance of visitors to local business, how we engage with visitors and community expectations on the extent of local servicing offered.”
Cr Potter said Council is interested in experiences community members have had when travelling to other regions.
“The way visitors access information has changed significantly over time with more information available via electronic means such as websites and through social media.
“If you’ve travelled within Victoria, interstate and even internationally, and had a positive experience finding out about a destination, we’d really like to hear from you about that.
“We’re interested in what people’s experiences and ideas are and what future opportunities might look like,” Cr Potter said.
Council committed to conducting a Colac Visitor Servicing Review following receipt of a petition with 660 signatures supporting the opening of the Colac Visitor Information Centre seven days a week.
Council’s survey for the Visitor Information Service Review is available on Council’s website. The survey closes: 10 November 2023.
