Colac Otway Shire Council Mayor and Deputy Mayor Elected

Councillor Jason Schram was elected Mayor at Wednesday’s unscheduled council meeting.

This will be Cr Schram’s third term as Mayor, having served in the role for two terms during his time on Council between 2016 and 2020.

Cr Schram said it was an honour to be elected and he thanked his family, the community and fellow Councillors for their support. Cr Schram will serve as Mayor for one year.

Councillors also voted unanimously in favour of re-instating the position of Deputy Mayor for the term of one year. Councillor Phil Howard was elected Deputy Mayor.

Cr Howard said he was looking forward to working closely with other Councillors to build relationships across the Colac Otway community. He thanked his wife, family and community for supporting his bid to join Council

This is Councillor Howard’s first council term.

The newly-formed Council group will conduct their first Council Meeting on Wednesday, November 27 at 4pm at Colac Otway Performing Arts and Cultural Centre. Members of the public are welcome to attend, or view a live stream on Council’s Youtube Channel.
