Councillors resolved at the April Ordinary Council meeting to livestream Council meetings to the public, where the technology is available, and also to suspend question time.
Under current COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, the Special Council meeting is expected to remain closed to the public.
Members of the public will be able to view the Special Council meeting on Council’s YouTube channel and questions to Council only relating to the items on the agenda will be accepted and responded to in writing.
Colac Otway Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Peter Brown said while current restrictions are in place, the community are encouraged to be involved, albeit remotely.
“While State Government restrictions remain in place, we encourage the community to continue to participate in Council matters by watching the livestream of the meeting and submitting questions to Council in writing,” Mr Brown said.
“Questions to Council in relation to the two matters to be heard at the Special Council meeting need to be submitted in writing by 5pm, Monday May 11.
“Written questions will be responded to within 7 days of the meeting, questions and answers will also be published on the website.
“Prior to the meeting questions will be made available to Councillors, and to media attending the meeting.”
The agenda will be made available on Council’s website at www.colacotway.vic.gov.au on Friday 8 May.
An audio recording of the meetings will be available to the public on Council’s website as soon as practicable following the meeting.
