Celebrate Children’s Week in the Colac Botanic Gardens
Published on 12 October 2022
A free Children’s Week event will be run in the beautiful surrounds of the Colac Botanic Gardens for children and their families to enjoy getting up close and personal with some reptiles, playing a game or two, participating in a craft activity, and listening to a story with children’s performer Captain Adam.
There will also be stalls set up by various organisations to showcase their services for families, including Council, which will offer information about family day care, waste management and caring for the environment.
When: Thursday 27 October between 10am and 2pm
Where: Colac Botanic Gardens
“Colac Otway Shire is a fantastic place for families and we have seen a baby boom in recent years,” said Mayor Hanson. “This will be a chance for children to play and make new friends, as well as a chance for parents and carers to find out what services are available to support them through their child’s early childhood years.”
Children's Week is a national celebration that recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children and the event has been made possible thanks to a partnership between Council, Barwon Child Youth and Family, Colac Area Health and the Department of Education and Training.
The 2022 theme is "All Children have the right to a standard of living that supports their wellbeing and healthy development", drawn from Article 27 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
