Bluewater dispute resolved
Colac Otway Shire Council has welcomed an out-of-court resolution to a dispute between parties regarding the Bluewater redevelopment project.
The parties to the dispute have resolved their differences to the satisfaction of each party.
The dispute was settled by all parties without any admission of liability on a mutually acceptable basis.
In accordance with the confidentiality obligations of the settlement process the parties otherwise cannot discuss the settlement.
“The has been a long-standing issue for all concerned and I believe there is a sense of relief for all parties,” Council CE Peter Brown said.
“We can now put the dispute behind us.
“Bluewater is a fantastic facility, particularly for the size of our community,” Mr Brown said.
“Council is able to offer top-quality aquatic and fitness programs, our local basketball association can host major events, Colac Secondary College and other schools have access to excellent facilities, and our community has a 24-hour gym, with scope to expand the centre’s use to meet the needs of a growing population.”
