Colac Otway is Child Safe
Every child has a right to be heard, listened to and taken seriously.
The Colac Otway Shire Council is committed to creating a culture of child safety and recognises that protecting children and preventing and responding to child abuse is an organisation-wide responsibility.
The Colac Otway Shire Council has a Child Safe Policy which ensures that if any child tells one of our staff members that they feel unsafe, we have structures in place to support and protect them. The policy can be viewed and downloaded via the links on this page.
We are committed to promoting the cultural safety of Aboriginal children and children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, as well as the safety of children with disabilities.
We strive to empower children and encourage their participation in matters that are affect and are important to them.
This page also contains a range of links and resources to support children, young people, families and carers; and to reinforce Council's commitment to being Child Safe.
