Coronavirus - Information for OPASS Clients
We have implemented a range of measures to protect your health and the health of our Community Care Workers, Care Manager and Assessment Officers.
We will
- Keep you informed of any future changes to our services in line with the latest advice from Commonwealth and State authorities
- Continue to operate these essential services and have implemented a range of measures to protect your health and the health of our workers.
- Your service will continue. If you are feeling unwell, it is essential you call our team on 5232 9420 before our community care workers visit your home.
Changes to your services
- Staff will ask questions about your health before entering your home such as if you have any symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat or tiredness are likely suffering from a cold or other respiratory illness.
- Staff will wear protective items such as gloves and masks at all times.
- Service hours may be adjusted.
- We will contact you to see if any services can be adjusted to reduce in-person contact, this might include shopping on your behalf instead of together.
Home Care Package Services
Your Home Care Package service will continue. However, if you are feeling unwell it is essential you call your Care Manager before our community care workers visit your home.

- We will contact you to see if any services can be adjusted to reduce in-person contact, this might include shopping on your behalf instead of together.
Changes to Care Manager appointments
- Care Managers will no longer conduct in-home visits, they will be replaced by telephone appointments during this COVID period.
- Your Care Manager remains your first contact for any Home Care services.
- Care Managers will conduct essential/ monitoring/ emergency visits only.
- Your Care Manager will be available during business hours.

Regional Assessment Services: In-Home Face to Face Assessment Appointments
- Assessment Officers will conduct assessments over the phone whenever practical during this COVID period.
- If circumstances dictate that an In- Home assessment is required due to needs base, the duration of the assessment will be limited to 30 minutes.
- The Assessment Staff will ask questions about your health before entering your home such as if you have any symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat or tiredness are likely suffering from a cold or other respiratory illness.
Food services delivery / Meals on Wheels
Your Meals on Wheels service continue to operate. However, as the situation develops, your usual delivery time or delivery person may change.
Protection of our Meals on Wheels clients
- All meals will be bagged so they can be handed to you.
- Service hours may be adjusted.

You can contact the Food Services Office on 5232 9420 to make the following changes:
When you are feeling unwell
Remember that most people with symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat or tiredness are likely suffering from a cold or other respiratory illness – not coronavirus.
If you:
- Need medical attention or have any concerns about your health, speak to your GP as soon as possible.
- Have been in close contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus, contact the 24-hour hotline on 1800 675 398.
