Review of Governance Rules

Council's Governance Rules were most recently amended in 2022 to address a range of matters including essential amendments to ensure the continuance of online and hybrid meetings.

There are a number of proposed changes to the Draft Governance Rules that should be actioned prior to the 2024 elections.

The revisions proposed in this draft include a mix of essential updates and improvements which reflect the accumulated experience of councillors over the current council term, amendments to the provisions relating to the election of the Mayor, and minor but important updates to references in the election period policy.

We encourage community members to view the revised Draft Governance Rules and provide your feedback.

Council officers have highlighted key changes in the Draft Governance Rules.

The document will be on exhibition for period of six weeks, allowing time for submissions to be reviewed and the final Governance Rules to be adopted in coming months.
