Colac Otway Shire has allocated $100,000 in its annual capital works budget for new and improved infrastructure in small towns throughout the Colac Otway Shire. Council decides how to allocate these funds based on Small Town Community Infrastructure Plans which were developed from some years ago. Council has begun a new rolling process to review and update these plans to ensure the spending meets your community's priorities, with Lavers Hill being one of several priority towns for 2020.
Thank you for participating in this process. You can have your say on your Small Town Community Infrastructure Plan by:
- completing the online survey CLICK HERE
- contacting the Economic Development & Tourism team to discuss your ideas
A drop in session was planned, however due to commencing Covid19 social distancing measures, an alternative option of phone discussions was selected as part of the community consultation.
How will it work?
Stage 1
- Community infrastructure planning in the ColacOtway Shire involves a survey of residents of each local town and its surrounding district, where responses to three questions are sought. A survey can be found online, in print, by speaking to your local Progress Association/Community Group or by contacting the Economic Development team to discuss your ideas.
- Survey responses are analysed and collated to provide a summary list of ideas, values and responsible agency.
Stage 2
- A ranking survey will take place to allow residents to prioritise the collated ideas. This will be available in an online survey, in print, by speaking to your local Progress Association/Community Group or contacting the Economic Development team to advise of your priorities.
- This priority list forms the basis of a Small Town Community Infrastructure Plan, which seeks to outline what the local community wants to see happen and the agency through which the proposed projects might be realised. For example, some projects might be the responsibility of state or federal governments, Colac Otway Shire Council, public or private enterprises or organisations, and others might be projects the local community can take on.
