At the February meeting, Council endorsed the draft Flag policy for public exhibition to seek community feedback.
Council has three existing ceremonial flagpoles at the Colac Customer Service Centre which fly the Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags. Funds were allocated in the 2023-24 budget to install a new community flagpole to enable additional flags to be flown in the precinct.
The introduction of a new flagpole in the precinct creates the opportunity to establish a holistic flag policy that sets out how the various flagpoles will be used. It is proposed that a new policy be developed to serve this purpose, and if adopted the former policy will be revoked.
